The £69 million addition to the London O2 Arena introduced a designer outlet village to complete the circuit of the O2 to create a 360 degree visitor experience. Across 2 floors there are over 80 retail outlets with a combined area of circa 400,000 sq ft..
Vexcolt provided the Megatec 310 which ensured the areas in question remained DDA compliant throughout the entire movement cycle. Vexcolt also provided this joint in miter sections to follow the line of the expansion gap between the structures. To complete the design, Vexcolt provided the Megatec 300 and 340 in areas with less vertical movement. All joints were installed with the accompanying Aquatec 1500 to ensure a water tight joint.
The 2 storey addition features 3 buildings joined by bridges and footpaths at the upper level. The entire area had to be accessible for all visitors to reach the required DDA requirements. With the 20mm vertical movements expected any solution had to allow for the movements whilst maintaining DDA compliance.
